Abstract
Begun with discussing the value of history, this article points out the subjective value judgements in the study of history and their significance for human free existence. Then, it suggests the reasons why the history of ideas in pioneering contemporary Chinese art should be a kind of history of language and a kind of history of time, and what are their features. When we talk about the history of ideas in pioneering contemporary Chinese art as a history of language we mean to draw attention to the processes in which pioneering artists use materials, we also do so to expose how the art world as a whole advances the diversification of available artistic media. When we talk about the history of ideas in pioneering contemporary Chinese art as a history of time we try to make clear the concept of time in works of pioneering Chinese art.
