Abstract

People’s perception of art is constantly changing, which means that the development of the concept of art is always marked by breakthroughs and transcendence. The transcendence in this cognitive transformation can be traced back to the transformation of human cognitive exploration of the mysterious natural world (human worldview), i.e., the transcendence of artistic cognition is influenced by the transcendence in the way human beings perceive the world. However, in terms of linear development, are all breakthroughs really the constant and absolute transcendence of the latter over the former? This paper discusses the transcendence of artistic cognition in the context of the development of human worldview, categorizing it into the transcendence of the subject’s rational cognition and experience, as well as the transsubjective, transempirical transcendence. From the former perspective, cognitive transcendence continues, but from the latter perspective, the nature of transcendence in human (and artistic) cognition is actually weakened.
